I came to the practice of yoga when I entered a very hot yoga class unaware of what awaited. And even though I was totally spent after yoga class – later in the day I found a calmness that encouraged me to try it again.

I then determined that yoga done in a healthful way as part of a healthy lifestyle was helping me overcome and cope with my rheumatoid arthritis and the stress of the corporate world.   Nothing in my life has contributed more to my physical and mental health than yoga, and it has also assisted in expanding my spiritual growth and commitment.  I have grown with yoga, and found adventure in exploring its infinite variations and possibilities. It is always exciting to discover something new, to try it and to share it with others, and to have others share with me.

I deeply respect and appreciate that yoga is an individual path for everyone who undertakes it. No two people are the same and no two yoga practices are alike. My personal practice of yoga is evolutionary and I continually learn from my teachers, my students and myself. Though I draw heavily from tradition, my classes are fusion of movements that improve coordination, open the body to possibilities, and improve balance, strength and concentration. -- Cheryl Rose

Houston Yoga & Ayurvedic Wellness Center

Houston Yoga & Ayurvedic Wellness Center

Yoga and Ayurveda are a healing journey that the patient takes with the practitioner. Working together with the five sense therapies such as diet, herbs, massage, aromatherapy, yoga, sound and color therapy…. We bring the body back into balance, healing from within. If you are interested in learning more about yourself and how you can live your healthiest life ever, then Ayurveda is for you! We will also work with your regular doctor to coordinate your health care for a total body, mind, and spirit approach.

Ayurveda views health and disease as the end result of how we interact with our environment. We create and re-create our state of health each day based upon how we interact with the world. Actions in harmony with our inner nature create health, while those disharmonious with our inner nature create disease.

Your constitution determines how you react to various foods, colors, aromas, and general life habits. Since everyone is unique in this respect, knowledge of your constitution or “prakruti” is essential to returning to a state of health. From this knowledge a treatment program can be designed to bring you gently and safely back to your true self.

There are many forms of yoga. The form we primarily teach at Jennyoga is Vinyasa. Vinyasa is defined as a string of postures linked together where the student flows from one posture to another without stopping in between, and is linked with a corresponding breath - an inhale or an exhale.

I am happy to share all that I have learned over the years with those who are eager to learn and live passionately. Yoga is a journey, and the journey continues until the day we take our last breath. There is always something new to learn and share. There are no straight lines, only winding paths to enlightenment. Yoga is a discipline that can help guide you toward Moksha. Namaste'.
